Dear English experts,

the word 'supposititious' I found in Tom Sharpe's 'The Great Pursuit'.
Should it be a funny, invented form for 'supposed'?

Hallo W. Welzel,

at first I thought it was a mixture of 'supposition' and 'superstition' - but I checked and it's a real word - it means "Substituted for the real thing; not genuine:" (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/supposititious)

Hope that helps,
