Die Rhenus hat am 22. Dezember 2011 die Zustimmung der Europäischen Kommission zum Erwerb der Deutschland- und Frankreichgeschäfte der Wincanton erhalten.
Der am 14. August 2011 durch die Gruppe unterzeichnete Vertrag zur Übernahme der Wincanton Holding für das kontinentaleuropäische Geschäft und deren Tochtergesellschaften tritt somit rückwirkend zum 1. Juli 2011 in Kraft.
Am 21. November 2011 hatten bereits die Aktionäre der Wincanton plc den Verkauf der europäischen Aktivitäten an die Rhenus mehrheitlich gebilligt.
