Das Ziel der Forschung von Prof. Zaccone ist, die Beziehungen zwischen molekularen Interaktionen und den dynamischen kollektiven Eigenschaften von kondensierten Materie systemen, einschließlich deren makroskopisches Verhalten, zu verstehen.
Unter Anwendung moderner Verfahren der theoretischen Physik und computergestützter Simulationen werden Einblicke in die mechanische Reaktion, die Morphologie und das Phasenübergangsverhalten ungeordneter atomarer und molekularer Festkörper (z.B. metallischer Gläser, amorpher Polymere usw.), in kolloidale Suspensionen und andere komplexe Flüssigkeiten sowie in biomolekulare selbstassemblierende Systeme gewonnen.
Prof. Zaccone studierte am Politecnico di Torino und machte seinen Master (M.Sc.) an der Technischen Universität Berlin.
