Die Neuralplatte enwickelt sich nämlich im Gleichschritt mit der Entstehung der Chorda dorsalis d.h. unter dem induzierenden Einfluss des darunter liegenden axialen Mesoderms ( Prächordalplatte und kranialer Anteil der Chordaplatte ).
Der Induktionsprozess ist ein sehr komplexer Vorgang, der auf die Sekretion von induzierenden Substanzen durch axiale Mesodermzellen zurückzuführen ist.
Diese Substanzen diffundieren in Richtung der darüber liegenden Ektodermzellen, wo sie Gene aktivieren, die für die Differenzierung des aus dem Ektoderm entstandenen Epithels in ein mehrreihiges, prismatisches Epithel verantwortlich sind:

The induction process is very complex, but has its origin in the secretion of inducing factors by axial mesoderm cells.
These factors diffuse in the direction of the ectoderm cells that lie above them where they activate genes that are responsible for the differentiation of epithelium that has come from the ectoderm into several rows of prismatic epithelium: the neuroectoblast.
