At the same time, in these medical sources the double meaning the ‘ leçon salutaire ’, of which Le Goff speaks, becomes evident, since model physicians and exemplary medical histories convey not only medico-ethical and health-related contents, but also tend to closely link rhetorical catharsis to medical recovery.
Our project for this symposium consists of an historically grounded analysis and reconstruction of the medical ‘ exempel ’.
In so doing, we shall be especially attentive to humanism, the most outstanding characteristic of which was the conflict between tradition and innovation.

Mit unserem Symposion stellen wir uns der Aufgabe einer historisch fundierten Analyse und Rekonstruktion der medizinischen Exempel.
Dabei gilt unsere Aufmerksamkeit schwergewichtig dem Humanismus, als dessen herausragendes Merkmal der Konflikt zwischen Tradition und Innovation gelten darf.
