Auf Initiative von Ex-Blumfeld-Musiker Kai Boysen von Bewohnern der stationären Wohngruppe 17 der Evangelischen Stiftung Alsterdorf und nicht behinderten Musikern gegründet, lautet das Prinzip der Band bis heute:

Station 17 look back on a band history of 25 years.
Founded at the initiative of Ex-Blumfeld musician Kai Boysen by members of the in-patient residential group 17 at the Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf and non-disabled musicians, the band’s principle even today is: every track is produced by a team of one impaired musician from Alsterdorf together with one non-impaired music producer.
www.mousonturm.deAuch wenn sich die Gruppe dem gängigen Werkbegriff widersetzte und in erster Linie Shows, Performances und Multiples produzierte, gab es daneben einen vielseitigen visuellen Output ( Cover, Kleidung, Videoclips, Plakate etc. ).
Mit der Herstellung von Objekten dieser Art begann auch die Bandgeschichte.
Bevor COS einen einzigen Tonträger publiziert hatten, konnten sie bereits eine große Palette von Merchandisingprodukten und Filmen anbieten.
