Wolfgang Sydow ( 1967 ) gliederte in seiner umfassenden Monografie über Namibias frühe Keramik die vorliegenden Gefäße in vier Kategorien, nämlich Schalen, taschenförmige Töpfe, mit einem Hals versehene Töpfe und Tüllentöpfe.
Einige der gefundenen Töpfe enthielten Eisenerz, das sogenannte ‚Blink-Klip‘, welches ein beliebter Handelsgegenstand war, weil es mit Fett gemischt als metallisch-glänzende Körper- und Kopfsalbe diente.
Diese Tatsache deutet darauf hin, dass Tongefäße oft weit transportiert wurden.

Some of the pots found were filled with iron ore, the so-called ‘blink-klip’, which was a popular trading item as it was mixed with fat and used as a metallically-gleaming body and head ointment.
This supposes that clay vessels were often transported far.
