Die Videoinstallation ‚Kabilas Taschentücher’ entstand in den Jahren 2003 und 2005 im ostkongolesischen Goma, an der Grenze zu Ruanda, wo im Gefolge des Genozids von 1994 und der anschließenden Massenflucht die Gewalt immer wieder entflammte.
Hinzu kam im Januar 2002 der Ausbruch des Vulkans Nyiragongo, der weite Teile Gomas mit Lava überzog.

The video installation “Kabila´s Hankerchifs” was created in the years 2003 and 2005 in eastern Kongo, in Goma, at the boarder to Ruanda, there, because of the genocide of 1994 and the following mass flight, violence occurred several times again.
Also in the year 2002 the volcano Nyiagongo erupted, and many parts of Goma were covered with lava.
