Bevor er zu Kaspersky Lab kam, arbeitete Alexander als CTO für KomiSat und vor dieser Tätigkeit war er Manager der ISP-Abteilung bei Komite und Systemadministrator bei SMZ.
Im Jahr 1996 gründete er das Antiviren-Zentrum der Republik Komi und 1998 war er für die Koordination des Projekts ' Wildlist Russia ', das die Sammlung und Analyse von Informationen über Virenepidemien in der Russischen Föderation zum Ziel hatte, verantwortlich.
