This year’s Gruber Prize for Cosmology has been awarded jointly to Professor Viatcheslav Mukhanov of the Physics Faculty at LMU and his compatriot Alexei Starobinsky.

Viatcheslav Mukhanov’s researches focus on what happened in the instant after the Big Bang.
In November, the German Physical Society awarded its Max-Planck-Medal to the LMU cosmologist, and in December the Bavarian Academy of Sciences conferred its Schelling Prize on him.

Mit dabei waren Bill Fontana, der diesjährige Preisträger und sein Inspiration Partner, der Kosmologe und Musiker Sobudh Patil, die über ihre Zusammenarbeit während der Residency von Bill Fontana am CERN sprachen.
Der Künstler ließ das Publikum mit Sound- und Videoausschnitten aus den bisher entstandenen Arbeiten für das Projekt “Acoustic Time Travel” in seine akustische Welt des CERN eintauchen.

She was joined by this year’s artist, Bill Fontana, and his inspiration partner, cosmologist/musician Sobudh Patil, who talked about their collaboration during Bill Fontana’s residency at CERN.
The artist then invited attendees to immerse themselves in an acoustic domain at the leading edge of physics by presenting sound & video excerpts of works he’s created for his “Acoustic Time Travel” project.
