Sein gleichnamiger Sohn lässt 1672 ein recht stattliches Haus in der Seilergasse errichten und seine Initialen H.U.H. sowie das Familienwappen in den Türsturz einmeisseln : einen ? Dreiberg ? der eben drei Hügel versinnbildlicht.
Während des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts sind die einanderfolgenden Hugels als tüchtige und rechtschaffene Weinbauern, insbesondere durch die gute Pflege ihrer Weinberge bekannt geworden.
1902 verlässt Frédéric Emile HUGEL (1869-1950) das alte Familienanwesen, um sich in der Ortsmitte Riquewihrs anzusiedeln, eben dort, wo heute noch das Herz des Familienbetriebs schlägt.
