tpk.schattauer.deDer Mensch infiziert sich durch die Aufnahme von Echinococcen-Eiern bei direktem Kontakt mit den Endwirten ( Hund, Katze, Fuchs ) oder im Falle des Fuchsbandwurmes auch durch die Aufnahme kontaminierter Nahrungsmittel ( Waldfrüchte ).
Im Darm schlüpfen die Larven, durchdringen die Darmwand und gelangen über den Blutkreislauf in andere Organe, wo sie große Zysten ( E. granulosus, zystische Hydatidose ) oder infiltrative kleine Zysten ( E. multilocularis ) bilden können.
Die Krankheit kann über Jahre ohne Symptome verlaufen.

After hatching in the gut larvae penetrate the intestinal wall and reach other organs by blood circulation.Here they can form big cysts ( E. granulosus, cystic hydatidosis ) or infiltrative small cysts ( E. multilocularis ).
The disease can progress without any symptoms over years.
