Die EUROPPASS Lkw-Maut GmbH wurde am 25. Juni 2002 mit der Planung, Finanzierung, Errichtung und dem Betrieb eines vollelektronischen Mautsystems für Fahrzeuge über 3,5 Tonnen höchstzulässiges Gesamtgewicht beauftragt.
Das weltweit erste flächendeckende multilane-free-flow Mautsystem ging plangemäß mit 1. Jänner 2004 in Betrieb.
EUROPPASS ist eine hundertprozentige Tochter der italienischen Autostrade S.p.A., dem größten europäischen Mautbetreiber, der von Rom aus ein Straßennetz von über 3000 km betreibt.

The world’s first nationwide multilane free-flow toll system was put into operation as scheduled on January 1, 2004.
EUROPPASS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Italian company Autostrade S.p.A., Europe’s largest toll operator, which operates over 3000 km of roads from its headquarters in Rome.
