Die Anträge werden international und vergleichend begutachtet unter Einbeziehung von Gutachter / innen aus dem wissenschaftlichen Umfeld vom SLAC und vom European XFEL.
Zunächst wird eine Auswahl der aussichtsreichsten Kandidaten / innen getroffen ( shortlist ).
Diese erhalten Gelegenheit, in einer persönlichen Präsentation ihr Projekt dem Gutachterkreis vorzustellen.
