Da allerdings solche realistischen Anwendungen noch nicht erreichbar sind untersuchen wir hauptsächlich sog. toy models („Spielzeugmodelle“) aus der statistischen Mechanik um das nötige Handwerkszeug für die Untersuchung komplizierter Modelle zu entwickeln.
