Die Schneemulden sind im Parkgebiet weitverbreitete Gelände, typisch der Alpen- und Schneehöhen.
Es sind Mulden, wo der Schnee während eines Grossteils des Jahres nicht verschwindet, sodass das Gelände nur eine kurze Zeit (höchstens 1-3 Monate) unbedeckt bleibt.
Die hier wachsenden Pflanzen müssen daher in der Lage sein, ihre Vegetationsperiode in sehr kurzer Zeit abzuschliessen.
