1599 wurde anläßlich einer Restaurierung der Kirche die vermauerte Gruft geöffnet, in der Cäcilia beigesetzt war.Man fand den Leichnam der Jungfrau unverwest auf der rechten Seite liegend, eingehüllt in ein langes Gewand aus Goldbrokat.
Im Hals klaffte eine tiefe Wunde, das Gewand trug Blutspuren und zu ihren Füßen lagen blutgetränkte Leintücher.
