The academics who had travelled as part of the delegation from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo were invited by the special ‘ Football and Conflict ’ unit at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence to provide interested colleagues with an insight into their academic work.
Particular attention was paid to current protest movements in Brazil , which came to public attention back in 2013 when a growing number of people began voicing their feelings on the streets during the FIFA Confederations Cup ™ .
