The Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 386 "Statistical Analysis of discrete structures - Applications in Biometrics and Econometrics" was established in 1995 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Its goal is the interdisciplinary development of statistical methods and their application to real life problems where the latent or observed structure is at least partially discrete.

Using modern processes of spatial econometrics he constructs a model of the relationships between different sectors in order to examine which theoretical approaches are relevant in explaining so-called agglomeration advantages and which sectors profit to a special degree from mutual proximity.
The job market effects are particularly positive when individual businesses supply other ones, when they employ staff of a similar qualification level, and when there is an exchange of know-how and innovations.
www.iab.de( IAB-Discussion Paper 15 / 2010 ) beschäftigt sich Wolfgang Dauth mit Wechselwirkungen, denen Betriebe unterliegen, wenn sie in der gleichen Großstadt angesiedelt sind.
Mit modernen Verfahren der räumlichen Ökonometrie modelliert er die Beziehungen zwischen unterschiedlichen Branchen, um zu untersuchen, welche theoretischen Ansätze für die Erklärung von sogenannten Agglomerationsvorteilen relevant sind und welche Branchen in besonderem Maße von gegenseitiger Nähe profitieren.
Die Arbeitsmarkteffekte sind insbesondere dann positiv, wenn Betriebe in Lieferbeziehungen stehen, wenn sie ähnlich qualifizierte Mitarbeiter beschäftigen und wenn es zum Austausch von Wissen und Innovationen kommt.

www.wiwi.uni-konstanz.deFelix Schindler studied Economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg i. Br. and at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, USA.
His major fields of study were econometrics and real estate economics.
Following his graduation in July 2005, he became a research fellow at the Department of Finance and Banking at the University of Freiburg.

Seine Studienschwerpunkte lagen auf den Gebieten Ökonometrie und Immobilienökonomie.
Nach seinem Abschluss als Diplom-Volkswirt im Juli 2005 war er Assistent von Prof. Dr. Heinz Rehkugler am Lehrstuhl für Finanzwirtschaft und Banken an der Universität Freiburg.
