Abstract :
The purpose of this explorative study is to contribute to the understanding of the work situation of state-certified engineers (staatlich geprüfte Techniker), their position within the employment system as well as opportunities and limitations for the representation of their interests.
The study is addressing a research gap that has become ever more embarrassing given the interest in the "intermediate qualification level"(master craftspersons etc.), its standing and potential in the educational and employment systems.

Die vorliegende explorative Studie will einen Beitrag zum Verständnis der Arbeitssituation und beruflichen Stellung staatlich geprüfter Techniker im Beschäftigungssystem sowie zu Möglichkeiten und Grenzen ihrer Interessenvertretung leisten.
Sie reagiert damit auf eine Informations- und Forschungslücke, die angesichts des Interesses an der »mittleren Qualifikationsebene« (Meister, Techniker, Fachwirte etc.), ihrer Wertigkeit und Zukunftsfähigkeit im Bildungs- und Beschäftigungssystem zunehmend als schmerzlich empfunden wird.
