Einige europäische Imker die nur wenige Königinnen pro Jahr erneuern übernahmen die folgende Methode, die darin besteht, eine Art Ableger zu erstellen :
nachdem man in einem starken Volk die Königin gefunden hat, bevölkert man einen Ablegerkasten mit fünf Rahmen, drei Brutwaben mit Bienen jedem Alters und je eine Futter/Pollenwabe an den Seiten.
Der Ableger wird nun für einen Tag etwas abseits des Muttervolkes gestellt, wobei er seine Altbienen verliert.

Placed a few metres from the donor colony for 24 hours, the mini-hive will lose its old bees.
