Der Forschungsbereich verfügt über speziell ausgestattete Labore für Explosivstoffsynthesen unter Sicherheit ( ferngesteuert in explosionssicheren Räumen ), Automatisationssysteme für ferngesteuerte Explosivstoffsynthesen sowie einen mechanischen Manipulator ( Modell A201, Firma Wälischmiller ) für die Synthese und Handhabung von hochempfindlichen Explosivstoffen und deren Zwischenprodukten.
Im Explosivstoffsynthesetechnikum können Synthesen mit Reaktionsvolumen von bis zu 50 Liter unter Sicherheit durchgeführt werden.
Weitere Ausstattungen sind Reaktionskalorimeter RC1, ein Fest-Flüssig-Extraktor mit bis zu 30 Litern Aufgabevolumen, ein Flüssig-Flüssig-Extraktor (4-stufig/kontinuierlich) und eine Destillationsanlage.
