Die Ausschließlichen Wirtschaftszonen (AWZ oder 200-Meilen-Zonen) der fünf an diesem Projekt beteiligten Länder Fidschi, Kiribati, Salomonen, Tonga und Vanuatu im Südpazifik umfassen 7,5 Millionen Quadratkilometer und somit die 21-fache Fläche der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Die natürlichen Ressourcen in Meeres- und Küstenzonen haben eine hohe Bedeutung für die Wirtschaft der pazifischen Inselstaaten.

The exclusive economic zones (EEZ or 200-nautical-miles zones) of the five islands involved in this project in the South Pacific – Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu – cover an area of 7.5 million square kilometres, 21 times the size of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The natural resources in marine and coastal areas not only play a significant role in the economies of the Pacific island states, they also constitute the population’s livelihood.

Nach seinem Tod - er verstarb auf Reisen und wurde auf Ureparapara ( Vanuatu ) beerdigt - gelangten Teile davon, ebenso wie die erwähnten Fotografien über seine Schwester 1899 als Schenkung in den Besitz der Stadt.
Im 1901 gegründeten Museum bildeten sie die Basis der Sammlung.

Für Tonga beschreibt eine Studie die Nutzung von Windenergie.

In the energy sector, the project supports, for example, Vanuatu in developing energy efficiency measures for government buildings. Energy roadmaps are also being created in Nauru and Vanuatu with project assistance.
A study describes the exploitation of wind energy for Tonga.
