Das UNESCO Welterbe-Komitee hat am 28. Juni 2007 in Christchurch ( NZ ) anlässlich seiner jährlichen Sitzung der Erweiterung des Weltnaturerbegebiets « Jungfrau - Aletsch - Bietschhorn » und dem Managementplan zugestimmt.
Nach dem positiven Entscheid des UNESCO Welterbe-Komitees vom 28. Juni 2007 wird das erste Weltnaturerbe im Alpenraum, das Gebiet um Jungfrau, Aletsch und Bietschhorn, um 285 Quadratkilometer erweitert.
Das ist mehr als 50 Prozent des bisherigen Gebiets; bisher hatte es eine Grösse von 539 Quadtratkilometer.

Following the positive decision adopted by the World Heritage Committee on 28 June 2007, the area of the first World Natural Heritage site in the Alps - the Jungfrau-Aletsch region - is to be increased by 285 km2.
This represents an increase of more than 50 per cent over the current area of 539 km2.
