www.mpifg.deEnde der 1990er Jahre wurde die Architektur einer Revision unterzogen, tatsächlich Blocks niedergerissen und an deren Stelle Ein- und Mehrfamilienhäuser für die Mittelklasse gebaut.
Bereits mit Fertigstellung wurde anhand von Architekturaufnahmen von Bijlmernicht nur das Versagen der Moderne sondern auch das Ende wohlfahrtsstaatlicher Wohnbauprogramme argumentiert.
Sie symbolisierten das Nicht-Einlösen-Können der sozialen Versprechen der Architektur und dienten in weiterer Folge als Argument für eine neoliberale Wohnraumpolitik.
