GIZ helps private and public institutions to use water more efficiently and actively promote sustainable water management in their particular sphere of influence.
The underlying concept is that of ‘water stewardship’ – that is, the acceptance of co-responsibility for the status and use of local water resources.
This is based on the realisation that all water users have an important part to play in the sustainable use of water resources and that no single stakeholder is able to manage the complex challenges effectively.
