The Leipziger Universitätsmusik ensembles will be putting the numerous guests of honour in the mood for the anniversary celebrations from May 9 to December 2, 2009, with a musical journey through six hundred years of University history.
The audience will first of all be transported back musically to the period around 1409.

Mit einer musikalischen Zeitreise durch sechs Jahrhunderte Universitätsgeschichte stimmen die Ensembles der Leipziger Universitätsmusik die zahlreichen Ehrengäste auf den Festzeitraum vom 9. Mai bis 2. Dezember 2009 ein.
Zu Beginn wird das Publikum musikalisch in die Zeit um 1409 entführt.

After this lively beginning, Michael Reinprecht (head of the Information Office of the European Parliament for Austria) and Karl-Georg Doutlik, head of the Representation of the European Commission in Austria welcomed the audience and presented the guests of honour:
Ursula Plassnik (Minister for Foreign Affairs, Austria) Wolfgang Schüssel (Prime Minister, Austria ), Jan Figél (EU-Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Multilingualism, Slovakia) and Richard Corbett (MEP, United Kingdom).

Nach diesem lebhaften Einstieg begrüßten Michael Reinprecht (Leiter des Informationsbüros des Europäischen Parlaments für Österreich) und Karl-Georg Doutlik (Leiter der Vertretung der Europäischen Kommission in Österreich) das Publikum und stellten die Ehrengäste vor:

Guest of Honour Brazil 2013 – Finland 2014 Following readings by Brazilian author Paulo Lins and Finnish author Rosa Liksom, the “ Guest Scroll ” – an objet d ’ art designed especially for the Frankfurt Book Fair – will be handed over to Finland, the Guest of Honour 2014.
