Die neuen EU-Rechtsgrundlagen sehen vor, dass in der Periode 2007 bis 2013 5,9 Prozent der EU-Mittel der Ländlichen Entwicklung für Leader-Projekte reserviert werden.
Das bedeutet eine Dotierung von rund 467 Millionen Euro für die laufende Programmperiode, was mehr als einer Verdreifachung der Mittel in diesem Bereich gleichkommt.
Inhaltlich sollen im Rahmen von Leader Projekte umgesetzt werden, die der Erreichung der Ziele der Schwerpunkte 1 bis 3 der Verordnung Ländliche Entwicklung dienen.
