Zur Uraufführung von Paradisiacal Rites verwandelt sich das Forum Frohner in eine bildgewaltige Rauminstallation, die wie eine hoch artifizielle Wiedererfindung der Natur wirkt.
Ein Kornfeld durchsetzt mit kinetischen Skulpturen und ein Himmel voller (ausgestopfter) Wildvögel werden zum Schlachtfeld des „grausamen Theaters“ von Ryan Mitchell, in dem seine PerformerInnen, TänzerInnen und MusikerInnen mit Blutegeln, Wein, Blut und Honig sowohl in psychische als auch physische Grenzsituationen geraten werden.
Paradisiacal Rites ist Fortführung und Abschluss des Zyklus „Transports of Delirium“, in dem sich ästhetische Deklarationen in opernhafte Rituale verwandeln, die die alte Idee des Gesamtkunstwerkes beschwören und ins 21. Jahrhundert befördern.

A corn field interspersed with kinetic sculptures and a sky full of (taxidermied) wild birds form the battleground of Ryan Mitchell’s “theatre of cruelty” in which his performers, dancers, and musicians – along with leeches, wine, blood, and honey – fall into both psychic and physical borderline situations.
Paradisiacal Rites is the continuation and conclusion of the cycle “Transports of Delirium”, performance projects in which aesthetic statements turn into operatic rituals that evoke the old idea of the total artwork and transfer it to the 21st century.
