Am Nachmittag fahren wir mit dem Boot durch den berühmten Mangrovenwald.

In dem Öko-Reservat von Mache-Chindul gibt es einen Mangrovenwald, der zu den ausgedehntesten der Welt zählt, die Flussmündungen sind für Tausende Seevögel Station auf ihren Flugrouten.
Das Reservat ist 70.000 ha gross und hier befinden sich auch einige der letzten Nebelwälder Ecuadors, die den wichtigsten Flüsse in den Esmeraldas (dem Cuaque, Cojimes, Muisne und Atacames) Wasser zuführen.

Vorbei am Osteingang zum Mangroven-Labyrinth mit den hohen Steilwaenden weiter Richtung Sueden und Pulau Tuba.

Im Nordosten Langkawis gibt es noch einen ausgedehnten, intakten Mangrovenwald.
Vom Meer aus ist er fast nicht zu sehen und man muss mit dem Boot, zumindest von der nördlichen Seite kommend, über eine seichte Stelle und Sandbank fahren.
