Vor kurzem wurde durch Implementierung eines zusätzlichen hochauflösenden Spektrometers in das ASUR Radiometer der Höhenbereich für Profilinformation auf 65-70 km erweitert.
Mit dieser Modifizierung wird es möglich sein, detaillierte Informationen über Dynamik und chemische Zusammensetzung der Mesosphäre zu erhalten.
Mit diesen neuen Möglichkeiten soll ASUR bei der LEONID Multi-instrument Aircraft Campaign im November 2002 eingesetzt werden.
