Im oberen Bereich stehen Paragneise, Glimmerschiefer und Amphibolite an, während der südlich ausgerichtete Hangfuß tiefgründige, humose Böden aus Löss zeigt, welche unverwechselbare Grüner Veltliner hervorbringen.
