Im Fall der Abwicklung / Restauration wird ( 1 ) der heutige geologische Zustand modelliert, ( 2 ) mit Hilfe der Bilanzierung das Modell in 2D und 3D validiert und ( 3 ) mit entsprechenden Techniken und Anwendungen das Modell soweit verfeinert, dass es geologisch, geometrisch und kinematisch korrekt ist.
Aus dem schlussendlich fertig vorliegenden geologischen 3D-Basismodell können anschliessend, mit Hilfe der Methode „ Forward modelling “, weitergehende Analysen der bestehenden geologischen 3D-Modelle erarbeiten werden ( z.B. finite element modelling etc. ).
